tarabun: the reason oppressed groups say “___ are awful” instead of “some ___ are awful” is because including the word “some” allows individuals of that group to detach themselves from the problem and shuck the blame off and say “well they arent really talking about me so i can ignore their opinions”, whereas stating that …

lesbianrey: okay but the flimsiest and most pathetic excuse for whitewashing a character is the argument that the original character was a stereotype. like, what you couldn’t think for 3 seconds on how to make the character less of a stereotype so you just give the role to a white person? how Convenient
marginalising: NOT EVERYTHING IS ABOUT A GOD DAMN RELATIONSHIP AND LOSING WEIGHT AND BEING BEAUTIFUL FOR GODS SAKE GO OUTSIDE AND ROB A STORE AND FEEL ALIVE AS YOU RUN AWAY FROM SECURITY
larrydraws: red-winged-angel: shingworks: kendallhaleart: I’m tired of getting these stupid offers to work on people’s “passion projects” for free, usually with the promise of compensation when/if the project takes off. Guess what? I don’t care that you’re passionate about it, I care if you’re competent. When you knock on my door asking for free work, its …
kiriamaya: cheatcommandos: if you accidentally misgender someone, you’re probably gonna want to pretend it never happened and hope they didn’t notice. do not do this. they noticed. trans people are hyperaware of how people refer to them. they heard you and they want you to apologize. even if they act like nothing’s wrong. they’re waiting …

illness-to-wellness: If someone with a disability says that they can’t do a specific activity because of their disability, believe them. Asking them to prove it, or trying to inspire them to overcome something they actually can’t, is disempowering and shaming. It’s their body, not yours, and they know it better than you do. This has …
first-disorder: You know we have so many cruel and sadist huxes who torture people and enjoy it, but I had a different headcanon recently. Cruel Hux who hurts people on daily basis but is so emtpy that he actually doesn’t feel satisfaction, or digust or anything. He had seen so much cruelty, that he’s completely …
why can’t mentally ill people ever be good instead of crazy, trash, garbage etc? just bc you think it’s a cute nickname doesn’t mean trash doesn’t have associations with dehumanization irl. you gotta project onto character who make it easier for people to dehumanize the mentally ill. by your words nobody can be messy and still a good person.
sailershanty: tarkinducken: bugtongue: okay. since i can see that you are at least trying to be coherent, i will take hold of your hand and give into my more benevolent urges and learn you a thing, you incorrigible fucking nuisance. I, ME, I latch onto villains because they show the messier parts of being mentally …
localhorrorlesbian: I do not trust anyone who claims their social group is somehow special and free of the possibility of abuse or rape culture in general because of its specific politics, dynamics, whatever. Like oh no, we’re artists, we’re marginalized, we’re sensitive, we’re radical, we’re nerds, we’re q*eer, we reject that stuff, we’re different than …
Outside the evidence within TFA, the fact is that the OT had 3 major characters with a connection to the force: 2 heroes and a villain. Luke and Leia on the light vs Vader on the dark. Now we have Rey on the light and Kylo on the dark. So we’re short 1 light sided with the force. I highly doubt any new character will serve as such. It can only be Finn. So, Rey and Finn on the light vs Kylo on the dark. That’s a perfect parallel to the original without making them all family (Finn is the random)
skywalkerapologist: Yup exactly. And Finn as a ‘random’ force sensitive does exactly what Rey Random advocates have been clamoring for – he “expands the universe” and shows that not only Skywalkers can be powerful force users. But for some reason (ahem), the people asking to expand the universe of force sensitives don’t seem to care or believe …
