(forgive me its 2am) ok so i hope that this hasn’t been brought up a lot by now, but one thing that i’ve found pretty fun about pocket morty’s is that some of the combined morty-volutions (nyeheh) add up in relation to each other in the descriptions, but one thing in particular stuck out for me regarding the Test X morty set

i mean, reading this all the way through, this isn’t just a description about another morty. it’s a whole story about a Rick who might have accidentally killed off his own morty, and, unlike any of the other rick’s mentioned in the deck entries, this Rick seems to have seen his Morty as so utterly unlike any other morty that he absolutely couldn’t replace it, and instead actually went through the whole end of his life and financial ruin to bring him back

not just that. if you follow to the end of the combination set, it’s never stated that the morty is ever completed, in fact the last one ends any mention of rick whatsoever.

meaning not only did this rick spend every last thing he had and was to recreate the one morty he lost, but he never even got to see it to the end. the last description states that his research was taken away by a large scale company before he ever even saw the end of it

these three deck entries are a whole story about a Rick and his Morty, probably the only one in the whole game, and definitely the only one to show genuine care for whatever this version left over for us seems to be. after everything he had, after everything he did, he never did get his morty back.

tbh i didn’t connect the dots until @mrdespondency pointed it out to me, and it i find the shift in language absolutely chilling.  this is how you tell a story.  what the fuck, pocket mortys.
