Why Jeff Bezos wants Amazon employees to ‘wake up every morning terrified’
Amazon is the one where even execs can be found sobbing at their desks. There was an article with an ex-high ranking employee talking about it. It’s ironic and strange, and makes for its own anti-meritocracy/anti-capitalism point–what’s the point of excelling and rising to the top, if you’re going to be miserable and afraid up there? Most people desire to reach the top for the rewards. At most corporations things are horrible on the bottom but get better as you move up in position.
Given what I’ve heard of Amazon workplace for the higher-ups, I can’t imagine they’re enjoying their rewards much. Toxic workplaces rob your life of any joy. Amazon is some sick shit.
