That sub made think… what if what the aliens think (about our psuedopsychic link) isn’t so far from the truth? And what would aliens think of low empathy people? Would they consider them disabled?
On the other end of the spectrum, would that make hyperempathetic people superheroes?
How confused would they be hearing about hyperempathetic people being bullied for connecting with things other than humans? And how many smack-downs would occur over their friends getting picked on?
I smell fic potential 🙂

hi i’m a non-empath so i feel i can add to this
I feel aliens wouldn’t see people like me as disabled, but rather enabled in a different way. People who lack emotional empathy often have great cognitive empathy, and so it’s very easy for us to read people. Many non-empaths, including myself, also experience flat affect. This is when emotions are not expressed in the face and/or the voice. This gives us a shield so to speak, in that we cannot be read as a more expressive person could be. I love when humans are weird and disability positivity coincide!
